This Is Your Dream Airbnb, According to Your Zodiac Sign

Sure, we all know, generally, what we do and don’t like when it comes to Airbnbs. Treehouses aren’t for everyone, location matters most for many, and some just want the deepest bathtub possible to sink into. But with so many options out there—some cities have more available Airbnb rentals than they do real estate openings—it’s best to whittle down your wants as much as possible.
One way to do that is to take your zodiac sign into account. Whether or not you live by your daily Costar reading, have an astrologer on speed dial, or aren’t sure which of the 12 signs you may be, it is an intriguing method for visualizing your picture-perfect getaway. To better understand which design elements would best fit each sun sign, we connected with Jessica Lanyadoo, host of astrology advice podcast Ghost of a Podcast and author of Astrology for Real Relationships.
“When it comes to choosing a space based on a sun sign, we can slip into stereotypes really easily,” says Lanyadoo. “But the truth of the matter is that when we choose something like a vacation—which so many of us have to scrimp and save and plan for—it should be life affirming and nurturing. I think a lot of people do things that they think they're supposed to enjoy, rather than things they actually enjoy. Capricorn, you work your buns off. You want to go into the woods? Do it! Pisces, you want to live in a hobbit house? Everyone knows that about you, so go for it.”
Ahead, Lanyadoo breaks down the things each sign should look for in a rental—and we found a potential new favorite to kickstart your research.

Aries
“An Aries wants to be close to the action,” says Lanyadoo. “So that can either be a really urban setting or sports-y things like whitewater rafting or golfing.” And what better place for adventure than Iceland? From exploring ice caves during the winter months to hiking the highland region during the summer when darkness is nearly nonexistent, there are options for every kind of adrenaline seeker. But there’s one other element to the perfect Airbnb rental for Aries: “They also want it to be convenient,” Lanyadoo says. The best thing about making Reykjavik your home base is that many tour companies offer pick-ups in the capital city, meaning you don’t have to do much at all to get yourself on the way to a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This 1930s apartment checks all of the boxes and comes with views over the city, too.

Taurus
For traveling Tauruses, there’s one thing you’ll want to keep in mind when picking an Airbnb, according to Lanyadoo: “Luxury all the way—a Taurus is vacationing in luxury. Even if it’s bougie… it’s still not bougie [enough].” If you have the budget for a $5,000-a-night rental, there are options like this next-level villa—reportedly owned by the Medici family at one point—in Florence. A price tag like that gets you butler service, private yoga or cooking classes, and unbeatable views of the city below. But one of the great things about Airbnb is that you can find a little bit of everything no matter what your budget may be. Head to Croatia and experience the Split Riviera from the pictured five-bedroom villa perfect for you and up to nine friends. Luxuries include an infinity pool overlooking the ocean, al fresco dining, and a stunning open-air great room.

Gemini
While “fully stocked kitchen” and “soaking tub” may be expected Airbnb amenities, “hidden rooms” and “trap doors” are less common, to say the least. “Geminis should look for a place that has weird, surprising elements,” Lanyadoo says. “So cubbyholes, trapdoors—they want a magical hideaway. Also, Gemini is a sign that will most likely want to do something culturally immersive.” Believe it or not, there’s an Airbnb that checks all of those boxes and you’ll find it in Los Angeles. Once the home of famed magician Harry Houdini, this four-bedroom villa has hidden caves, secret gardens, and the very water tank that Houdini used to practice some of his most well-known escapes. Plus, the Edwardian home is a four-minute drive from the Sunset Strip and a nine-minute trip from Beverly Hills when you’re craving an escape from your escape.

Cancer
According to Lanyadoo, making a Cancer happy centers around a couple of things: “A big comfortable bed is a must and a really good kitchen,” she says. But it’s the more personalized touches that will really leave an impression for Cancers. “I've stayed in Airbnbs where you get a bunch of eggs from the chickens on the farm—that kind of thing would do really well for this sign.” This home, which was built in 1747, can be found in Warwick, New York, two hours from Manhattan. With four large bedrooms (all with comfortable beds, as confirmed by guest reviews) and a fully-equipped kitchen ready to host a crowd, this Airbnb leans into minimal style with Shaker touches. Plus, there’s plenty to do in the area: You’re 15 minutes away from a handful of ski resorts. And yes, there’s a good chance you will find some farm fresh eggs upon arrival.

Leo
Leos should seek out adventure when it comes to their Airbnb rentals. Whether that’s finding a beautiful space right in the middle of the action or sleeping on the side of a cliff, this sign loves an adrenaline rush. “Leos like to feel like they're special, so find a place that's really different and unique,” Lanyadoo says. “And don't put Leo in a space without a high thread count.” To fill this order, head to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where a particularly stunning three-bedroom apartment will serve as your home base (and chill space in a city with plenty of adventure), complete with luxurious amenities like a private open-air bathroom and high thread counts.

Virgo
The tired characteristics of a Virgo may be that they’re hyper-organized and methodical, but when it comes to Airbnbs, put on a different filter. “For Virgos, go for a clean, open space—more of a modern aesthetic,” Lanyadoo says. “Virgos are going to resonate with a wide open area where they can see everything that's in the space they're staying in. It's more about having a sense of, what is happening here? What am I dealing with?” Open concept Airbnbs aren’t hard to find, but this rental in Asheville, North Carolina will also appeal to a Virgo’s creative side. Twelve minutes from the downtown neighborhood, this glass home has incredible views of the surrounding mountains from every vantage point and plenty of space to breathe, thanks to the open design of the living spaces. It’s the perfect place to clear your head and take in some city fun—on your own terms, of course.

Libra
Libras come with a crowd and when you’re traveling, you’re going to want enough room for every single person in your crew. “For a Libra, you want a bazillion rooms so you can bring all your friends,” says Lanyadoo. “Make sure there's lots of space to sprawl out, too.” This luxury estate in Oakhurst, California, will get the job done with its five bedrooms. Accommodating up to 14 guests, the home puts its natural surroundings in the spotlight, with a private waterfall and a creek on the property. There are cozy nooks throughout the home; think plush lounge chairs overlooking the creek, an outdoor balcony, and a serene soaking tub made of stone—perfect for stealing away some private time.

Scorpio
Head to Oaxaca, Mexico, for a complete Scorpio dream house. The main thing you’re looking for? According to Lanyadoo, “somewhere with a pool or a deep luxurious bathtub.” Done and done, because this two-bedroom home a quick walk from the beach has what may be the most incredible Airbnb pool we’ve ever seen. The Brutalist space was designed by French architect Ludwig Godefroy and offers up the best place to watch the sunset. Aside from the pool, there are refreshing bursts of light throughout the rental and a kitchen that will have you feeling like you’re living in the pages of a magazine.

Sagittarius
“Sagittarius will want someplace that has a big view—this could also be an adventure location,” Lanyadoo says. “A spot that's a little wild and hard to get to.” If there’s one place you can have both of those things, it’s Norway. Located in Vestland, a county in the southwestern region of the country a three-hour drive from Bergen, the self-described Birdbox plops you right in front of the Blegja mountain range, with sweeping views of Førdefjord. It may be small (so small that the bathroom is located a quick walk away), but the scenery makes up for the petite footprint.

Capricorn
Keep it simple for the Capricorns. Forget fancy Wi-Fi-enabled entertainment systems and stick to the basics. “Capricorns want to be hidden in the woods, away from urban centers,” says Lanyadoo. “We're going very woodsy. It's not about modern technology and conveniences—it's about keeping things very simple.” A cabin in the woods is the perfect escape for a Capricorn and this two-bedroom chalet in Grant, Colorado has everything you’d want in a vacation rental—cozy interiors, massive windows, a fireplace—plus an added luxury: a Finnish steam sauna. When guests want to venture out and keep the solitude rolling, they can follow a private (seasonal) trail straight from the property into the nearby national forest. Here, there are expansive aspen groves and a creek, perfect for afternoon strolling.

Aquarius
There’s a unique side of Airbnb that will really speak to an Aquarius. “Opt for something that looks like a spaceship,” Lanyadoo says. And if you’ve ever spent time looking for a rental in New Mexico, chances are you’ve come across an Earthship. These otherworldly looking homes prioritize self-sufficiency, depending on energy generated on-site, water collected from rainfall, and clever temperature-regulating design. This particular rental in Taos has a soaking tub, a small library of Earthship-related books, and Wi-Fi. The real show happens as the sun rises and sends stunning geometric shadows throughout the interior hallway of the home.

Pisces
You may assume a Pisces would want something waterside, or even a houseboat rental. And while that may resonate with some, Lanyadoo suggests appealing to another side of this gracious and imaginative sign. “Pisces wants something that is out of this world—something that truly makes them feel secluded and safe,” she says. “I would send Pisces to Ireland, somewhere on a rolling hillside with delicious fog. If you could find a hobbit house in Ireland… oh, yeah. That’s the place.” And we found that place, about two hours northwest of Dublin. This hobbit house is located in the middle of an orchard on an organic cider farm and can sleep up to six guests—and yes, guests get free samples of the cider. There may not be a space to cook inside of the home, but the farm’s kitchen is open 24/7 to all guests. You can also use the communal fire pit (s’mores, anyone?).
